  • Greek Shabbat- Friday December 4, 5:30 pm

    Being Greek at Kent State means a lot of things, and at its core, it means you're part of something bigger than yourself. Hillel at Kent State wants to honor our Greek students for their commitment to community.

    Wear your finest blocks and celebrate Shabbat with your friends. Anyone, regardless of affiliation, is welcome and encouraged to join for singing, a delicious (and free) dinner, and lots of spirit!

    Hanukkah starts early this year with LatkeFest 2015. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time or at the door and all proceeds go to AEPi Give Back - Repairing the World.

    Harvey Sass of Pepper Pike was appointed interim executive director of Hillel at Kent State at the board of trustees meeting Aug. 24.

    He succeeds Jennifer Chestnut, who was appointed vice president of campus partnerships for Hillel International.

    The raffle is closed! Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets, raising $2,800 to support Jewish life at Kent State and University of Akron. 

  • Jake Green and Tali Merdler Receive Esther Marks Award

    The Esther Marks Award is presented each year to a senior who has held a leadership position with Hillel at Kent State. The 2014-15 recipients were seniors Jake Green and Tali Merdler  (pictured on left and second from right, with 2014-15 winner Margalit Schindler and Hillel's Kitchen Manager, Lisa Rhodes). 

    Both recipients demonstrated commitment to enhancing Jewish campus life through active participation in Hillel. Jake Green has been Hillel's Student Marketing Coordinator for the past three years. He previously held the position of Shabbat Intern and has been active in fundraising for Hillel. Tali Merdler was the Engagement Fellowship Team Lead this past year, previously serving as a Jewish Learning intern during the 2013-14 academic year.
