Connect with Hillel after the Chai Five event:
PRESS RELEASE: Hillel at Kent State honors Beth Rosenberg and Rob Minster at festive Chai Five event
KENT, Ohio – Hillel at Kent State honored Beth Rosenberg and Rob Minster at its Chai Five event on Sunday, June 1. Over 160 people attended the celebration, which also recognized the five-year anniversary of the Cohn Jewish Student Center.
Beth and Rob have been influential leaders on Hillel's Board of Trustees for the past decade. Beth served as Hillel's Board President from 2008-11, while Rob served as the Capital and Endowment Campaign Co-Chair.
During the program at Kent State University's Cartwright Hall, Hillel shared a five-minute video that described how Beth and Rob have impacted the organization.
In her comments at the program, Beth Rosenberg said: "What Kent State Hillel does is so aligned with my values and what I care about. We are both just a very small part of the group of volunteers, staff and donors that have transformed this organization into a home away from home at the Cohn Jewish Student Center."
Rob Minster added: "It has been exciting and rewarding to be involved in an organization that is small and on the move. We have the opportunity to help students, whether they be from Kent, Ohio, or a distant place, plant roots in our community so they can be the leaders in years to come."
Students also spoke at the program, which preceded a festive champagne brunch back at the Cohn Jewish Student Center. Zach Mandel, a rising junior from Solon, had just returned from his Taglit-Birthright Israel trip. He shared: "Whether you utilize it a little bit or a lot, Hillel is something all students need."
Jennifer Chestnut, Hillel's Executive Director, discussed how Hillel at Kent State is often referred to as a "hidden jewel" in the region. She urged event attendees and Chai Five supporters to make Hillel at Kent State no longer so hidden.
"Encourage students to choose Kent State – and encourage your peers to get involved in our board and leadership,” Chestnut said.
